Can AREDN and HSMM communicate with each other
Thank you for adding me to your roster. I am completely new to mesh networking.  I plan on setting up my club's first mesh network for field day this year. Most of the routers we have are WRT54G routers. In designing my network, I recently purchased a Ubiquiti Rocket M2 with a Altelix omni antenna. My question is, would a router flashed with AREDN software communicate with WRT54G routers flashed with the latest version of HSMM on any channels? I understand that some of the AREDN channels and features would not be available. Just need basic connectivity for now.

I eventually will replace all my routers with AREDN capable technology, for many reasons. However, I cannot afford to do it within the next 60 days.

Thanks,
Josh

Thank you. I was hoping it
Thank you. I was hoping it would work so I wouldn't have to flash the Ubiquiti with HSMM just to try to re-flash it later with AREDN.

Hello, I was successful in
Hello, I was successful in getting the old hsmm ham net routers to work with the new aredn routers.
I did note the SSID can't be changed in hsmm-ham net routers, it has to stay with the ssid of BroadbandHamnet.
I bricked two old routers when I tried rebooting after changing ssid to AREDN.
But if i changed the ssid on the new aredn routers to BroadbandHamnet.
All devices see each other in the mesh
