Can anyone comment on relative functionality wrt AREDN of:

QTH setup utilizing a 5 Port Toughswitch (with connected airGateway) vs AirRouterHP(s)  each (both) connected to ISP's ADSL modem/router via Cat 5e or Cat 6 to provide the necessary 'Internet Access' for installing and configuring Tunnel Services and exploring Gateway use for SIP and ownCLoud Services and permitting access from anyplace in/around QTH within wifi range on a separate SSID , keeping AREDN activities separated from everything else that might be going on here?

Is it even reasonable to compare the two and will one of each provide any functionality that 2 of the other will not?

Similar  question - is anyone using 'standardized' Mtn Top provisioning for dtd of three radios, 2 back to back toward horizons, the third for local distribution?
Currently envision the  "KF6IDK standard"  minimal setup, a 2U tray w/5 port ToughSwitch and a Tycon Systems Surge Suppressor/Lighting Arrestor for each radio using Ubiquiti Carrier Grade for POE to the radios (if for no other reason ... because it is so much fun for arthritic hands to terminate<g>).

Will an airGateway on an available ToughSwtch POE port in the rack be useful?  Dreaming of working on the radios from the warmth & comfort of the front seat of the truck<g>.  If that won't work access might eventually become a weatherproof, lockable RJ 45 port in a NEMA surface mount box on the shelter exterior & a patch cord into a similar box mounted on the  truck. Sloth and laziness is the sibling of invention.

The AirRouter HP will have
The AirRouter HP will have better coverage since it is higher power than the AirGateway LR.

I say YES.  If you put the AirGateway in bridge mode, then you provide standard Wifi (secured) access to the mesh.  I recommend setting the "hosting node" to DHCP 13-clients.
