What is the recommended mesh file transfer software?
Thanks!

Lots of options

Lots of options

  • MeshChat supports file transfers
  • You can run an FTP server on a RaspberryPi connected to the mesh node's LAN port
  • You can run an OwnCloud server on a RPi connected to the mesh node's LAN port
  • RMSExpress can send file attachments to Network Post Office (or telnet P2P)
  • WinSCP or scp commands
  • etc.

I'd say rethink your question:  "How would I transfer files over the internet?"  Then think of using similar programs on the mesh network.

Options, but with problems
I know, shooting myself in the foot...
Meshchat file transfer is not private point to point.
Don't want any central servers.
RMS express would be great, but doesn't work with XP.

I run RMSExpress on XP.

I run RMSExpress on a WinXP VM on my Mac, no problems.

I run RMS Express on Windows
I run RMS Express on Windows XP Laptop on an old toughbook C18 (if you wanna look the specs) and it works just fine.  I even have RMS Relay running on the computer.

Mesh and RMS Express
OK so I installed it on my XP PC.  I looked at the tutorials.  I admit I don't understand all this.  They talk about Signalinks and stuff like that.
I don't think that is needed for mesh transfers. We need just P2P, no server, no internet, and that is mentioned, but no details.  I guess I need some elementary info and examples of how to use RMS express in the p2p mode on mesh.  Thanks!

no signalink required since
no signalink required since you are using your MESH radio and it's already digital.  ;-)
