I'm in the process of setting up a Supernode in Las Cruces, NM. The Getting Started Guide says we should "coordinate the deployment of Supernodes among the Supernode owners". I'm not sure how to do that: do I just post a request here or should I contact a specific Supernode owner and ask to setup up a tunnel?
I currently have a client node tunneled into a server node in Mesa, AZ. From what I understand, I'll need to disconnect that tunnel BEFORE I connect a Supernode to the network, is that correct? Currently our local network only has 5 nodes but that should grow in the near future.

Q. Why set up a supernode?
A1. My local LAN is over <#> nodes and 1 or more of the AREDN devices are running out of RAM trying to maintain routing tables.
A2. My local LAN is over <#> nodes and 1 or more of the AREDN devices are running with a load > 1.0.
To have access to many services, it may be desirable to have a supernode in a local LAN.
Can your local LAN link with another local LAN that already has a supernode?
IMHO, it may be beneficial to the weakest node in a LAN to have a supernode.
My local LAN has a supernode and that is currently limiting the node count to ~140.
I suggest that you view the AREDN World Map and ask for a regular tunnel with the closest LAN with a supernode.

Our local LAN is already linked to a LAN with a Supernode (NM5XD-1 to KD7DNY-Server-1 to KD7DNY-AZ-SUPERNODE). My concern is: as we add more local nodes and more services we'll be putting an unreasonable load on the Arizona Mesh Organization who is kindly letting us learn on their local network.
I'll get in touch with a few Supernode owners directly and see how it goes.
Thanks again,

Hi, Fritz:
I suggest that you let the Arizona Mesh Organization make that determination.

I am not seeing KD7DNY-AZ-SUPERNODE on the World Map.

I rephrase:
I recommend that you link with a LAN with supernode which has links to the AREDN World Map.

"I am not seeing KD7DNY-AZ-SUPERNODE on the World Map.

It shows up when I view the map. It's one of only two Supernodes in AZ.

I was able to browse from my local LAN to KD7DNY-AZ-SUPERNODE and
browse its LAN.
Nice! :-)
It has 118 nodes in its LAN...mixed with OLSR over 1/2 of the nodes.
I assume that your 5 nodes will not impact that LAN much. (+4.3%)
