I have some airrouters that we use only for field day logging and am trying to get one of the AR to be a WAN client and use the local wifi for internet access (ntp time mostly), but I've tried two different locations with different brand 2.4GHz wifi APs and the node will not connect to either of them.
I know the SSID and password are correct, and if I scan local wifi, the RSSI is -50dB or better, and the SNR is at least 35dB.
Nodes are at 3.25.2 firmware (the .5 and .5.1 versions don't play well with this old hardware)
I had the WAN client device connected DTD with a standard mesh device, and was able to see them both; I presumed that was the connection needed. I haven't tried connecting the laptop directly to the WAN client node, nor connecting it to the WAN port of the mesh device, as I didn't think that would make a difference since the WAN client node wasn't connecting.
Am I missing something? Will this hardware not support this use?
I've had issues connecting hardwire at the sites, either the jack isn't wired, or access controls prohibit, so wired internet usually isn't an option.
I have several more ARs than needed for FD logging, so I'm mainly trying to avoid buying a standalone AP with this function unless it's absolutely needed.
Thanks.

Configure this node to share WAN with all linked AREDN nodes.
DtD connect this node to another AREDN node(b) as 'Mesh' or 'Mesh PtMP'.
RF Connect all other AREDN nodes as 'Mesh' or 'Mesh Station' as appropriate.
Internet access will be available on the LAN port of all networked nodes.
I hope this helps, Chuck
Two different wifi APs, one AP is a b/g, other AP is ac. Also tried a second AR unit in case first was wonky.
Triple checked the ssid and passwords, and other devices are connected to these APs, yet the AR status page shows no connection, and internet not available through the standard mesh node.
