Hi all.
Sorry if I'm posting in wrong section. I am having an issue with connecting to voip phone connected to the gl.inet device over mesh. I have tested a different phone with same results. The phone will not register with freepbx on the network either. I am not an expert with Wireshark but when I try to log into phones web gui it never responds. I never see any packets respond.
I have a few tp-link cpe210's and all works fine with the same phone. I have compared settings and they seem to be the same across all nodes. I started with 3.22.8.0 firmware and switched to nightly build also no change. So I can communicate with node just fine and RF connection is very good also.
So if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm missing something let me know.
Thanks Kyle

Hi, Kyle:
I do not think we need a microscope to troubleshoot your network and services.
I need more information to assist.
Tell us about your AREDN network:
GXP1628 (#3)
One does, but unknown which node. (#3)
Yes. (#3)
Unknown. (#3)
Gl-iNet AR-300- EXT (#3)
No. (#3)
No. If it does not have a reservation, it cannot be advertised. (#3)

Topology is openwrt router for home lan with one Aredn node connected as network to (lan port 4). I have configured router to give out the aredn node as first DNS to Home lan devices. All seems to be working when I use laptop to go out on aredn network. I have connected laptop directly to aredn node1 and still no luck. Only way I can access phone gui is directly connect to the node's lan where ip phone is connected. When the GXP1628 is on my home lan it will connect just fine to raspbx on the aredn network but just seems like it is not working when directly on the aredn network.
Aredn topo is 3 nodes less than 250 yards from each other. I have a Grandstream DT750 base connected to one node which is working fine. It registers with pbx and I can access its gui.
The freepbx raspberry pi server is on the Aredn network and has dhcp reservation on that node. I use the pbx name for sip server (raspbx) for registration and seems to work fine with DT750 and softphone on pc (linphone).
The phone is a Grandstream GXP1628 connected to Lan port of Gl-iNet AR-300- EXT. Also I have been testing some this morning on Tp-link cpe210 and it is not working on those either. So maybe a config issue with phone.
Phone does not have dhcp reservation.
Node 1 with raspbx is line of site w/node 2 where ip phone is connected.
Phone is not advertised as service
raspbx not advertised as service only dhcp reservation it is propagated
Thanks for replying 73
I see no need for a home router to achieve registering a GXP1628 on an AREDN network,
given that the AREDN network is set up suitably.
So, is your local AREDN network's connectivity working?
Each node with an IP phone or a PBX is connected to the same AREDN network?
Then your AREDN network is not connected.
You may need to configure your AREDN devices so that they can connect.
This may be a configuration issue (SSID, Channel, Bandwidth) or a radio issue (sufficient SNR).
"Phone does not have dhcp reservation."
It is not necessary for the phone to have a reservation in order to register as an extension on the PBX.
Having a reserved Hostname and IP address makes it easier to access the phone's configuration GUI.
...
"Phone is not advertised as service."
It is not necessary for the phone to be an advertised service.
This would make accessing the phone's configuration GUI a clickable link on the AREDN network from any browser.
Hi, Kyle:
That is good to know, but are the nodes linking?
At a glance it seems that your local AREDN network is not working.
My brain does not have the capacity to understand what parts of your network is on the home router and what parts are on the AREDN network.
I may be able to assist, if all the devices were on the same working AREDN network.

So for some reason the Grandstream devices where not receiving a Gateway address. (It was so simple in front of me the whole time). I had to set static ip address for GXP1628 and now working perfect.
Chuck are you able to confirm if anyone else has had this issue. My PC apparently was receiving a gateway along with an Orangepizero I have for a web site. But the Grandstream Phone would not get a gateway with dhcp from any of my nodes.
If it is working with a static address, then it is likely that the Grandstream devices were not requesting and IP address via DHCP.
It sounds like your PC had both a Wi-Fi device and an ethernet device requesting addresses via DHCP or
at least multiple active network connections.
However your PC connects to the AREDN network, you may want to disable its other network devices.
Hi, Kyle:
"Grandstream Phone would not get a gateway with dhcp from any of my nodes."
May I rephrase:
My Grandstream Phone, when connected to the LAN port of a node, would not get an IP address via DHCP.
A 'Gateway' is automagically assigned when obtaining an IP address via DHCP.
A 'Gateway' may not be assigned when statically assigning an IP address.
It seems to me that you are doing things that are keeping the network from doing what it will do naturally.

If that phone does not respond to your web browser, then you likely do not have network connectivity.
If your web browser cannot find the phone, then perhaps the phone cannot find the PBX.
You may need to fix your network.
Thanks for reply Chuck.
When I connect the GXP1628 to the Lan port of the aredn node the phone gets an ip address from DHCP. But it does not receive a gateway ip address and it will not register to pbx. That's why I had to set it with static ip address with gateway ip.

Do you mean this gateway address?
Here is my GXP1630 Network Status page without 'ticking' anything on the node setup.
All 'WAN Settings' are default.

Some poorly written device firmwares need this additional DHCP option (that the adv config option sets). You may want to look and see if there is a newer firmware version for your Grandstream phone. We've seen this issue on cheap cameras as well.
I will check the firmware on all my phones. Aredn is an amazing software and very reliable. If you guys do any development Thank you! and if you know any of them Thank them for me. If I were capable of helping I certainly would. K5DLQ thanks for info on cameras, I may test those at some point too.
Thanks Kyle
