PSA: MVMA at the Beavercreek Popcorn Festival

The Beavercreek Popcorn Festival was held the weekend of September 10-11.
Some Miami Valley Microwave Alliance members are also members of the
Beavercreek Township Fire Department Auxiliary and received permission to set
up a demonstration of mesh capabilities at the festival. Two Auxiliary vans were
positioned at each end of Dayton-Xenia Road (one at Fairfield Rd. and one at
Meadow Bridge Drive). A camera, phone, and Mikrotik panel were deployed on a
mast at the east end and a Mikrotik dish and phone were deployed at the west end
near the Fire Department. Demonstrations of the camera and phone system were
made for the Fire Chief, several Auxiliary members, as well as other firefighters and
officers. All were very impressed with the technology and looked forward to hearing
more about MVMA capabilities. (Article by John Westerkamp W8LRJ)

Thanks for sharing this,

Thanks for sharing this, Chuck.  Your group provides a great example for others across the country in getting involved with community events and demonstrating the usefulness of AREDN and volunteer ham radio communication in general.  Well done!
