JNOS Packet BBS & AREDN
Is anyone sharing the webserver portion of the JNOS BBS onto their local Mesh?
I'm trying to work out how to share a service that is already in 44Net IP space with the Mesh IP space.
I was planning on assigning the hAP node a static 44Net IP for the WAN to get that onto the same Network... But then I don't really want to share the WAN.
When I mapped this out in my head after a quick conversation .. I said I can do this! ... Now that I'm working through it, I find there are holes in the plan, haha. I'm new to AREDN, so I'm probably missing something. The forums have been very helpful, but I've not seen mention of JNOS.. so I thought I'd ask the question.

It's been a while since I touched JNOS, but if it's a webservice on that node, what about putting it as a host behind your node, and allowing it to connect out to the internet, or it's own RF connections to the 44.net...

Last I touched JNOS, it was pretty much like an old school BBS, primarily mailing lists/message board/usenet style.... I can see how a browser based front end could easily be added....

I have G8BPQ's NODE/BBS/RMS as a service on our local mesh.

"But then I don't really want to share the WAN."

By default, WAN access is not shared with other remote nodes.
There is a checkbox to allow a devices WAN to every node and device on the radio network.
I have a 'use case' for enabling this momentarily (minutes).
I hope this helps,
Chuck

Is the local mesh node

Is the local mesh serving the BPQ node a static 44Net IP or a local Mesh IP?

"Is the local mesh serving the BPQ node a static 44Net IP or a local Mesh IP?"

Primary Address is in 10.0.0.0/8, which is default. Address is dynamically assigned by ARDEN firmware algorithm.
This address may be statically assigned.

The local AREDN network sees this service with IP address: 10.174.162.38

gelmce@bpq:~ $ ifconfig
eth0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST>  mtu 1500
        inet 10.174.162.38  netmask 255.255.255.240  broadcast 10.174.162.47

Network 10.174.162.32

If you use an AREDN network, I assume that you will need to port-forward from a 44Net address to a 10.x.y.z:port address.
I port forward from my ISP address to the web-browser interface on the BPQ-NODE/BBS/RMS service.

I hope this helps,
Chuck
