New Regional Area - Ontario, Canada

Can we add an Ontario, Canada Region to the Regional Page? There is no way to add it on the Regional Page
My name is Eric - VE3EI in the Niagara Region of Ontario (Near Buffalo NY)
We currently have several nodes running in and around Fonthill, ON (Southern Ontario on Lake Ontario) with a link across Lake Ontario to the Mississauga/Peel regions of approximately 76 km (47 miles).
Our local club, the Niagara Peninsula Amateur Radio Club, is actively promoting MESH Networking.
To my knowledge there are currently active groups in Hamilton, Burlington, Mississauga, Oakville, Toronto (?), and Ottawa
For more info on what we are doing please visit one of our web sites http://www.va3kgs.ca/amateur-radio/mesh-networking-2/
Main players in this area are VE3XNC (Brad), VA3KGS (Kevin), and myself, VE3EI Eric)

Randy. Is there any way I can
Randy. Is there any way I can post screen shots? People might find it interesting in what we are seeing???
BTW, congrats on running the Forum. It is great to have the ability to converse with like minded people!
My son lives just up the road from you in Parsippany (Lake Hiawatha) area. Periodically go to visit a few times a year. Maybe one of these trips a face-to-face meeting is in order?

How to post screen shots

Yes, you can post screen shots - there are some restrictions on size that are automatically taken care of.

In a post, select the picture icon in the editing bar. This icon is the 8th from the Right and looks a little like mountains and the sun.
This pops up an Image Properties dialog box. Select the Browse Server button. After a short delay, you will see a directory that contains all the pictures you uploaded to AREDN so far. Since you will want to use a new picture - select the Upload button at the top right. This gives you the ability to select a file on your computer. Once the picture is uploaded, select Insert File in the top right of the dialog box. The last things to do are select Danland Breakpoint Group from the dropdown menu in the Image Size (required) box and the select OK (in green) at the bottom right.

While it seems like a lot of steps, it goes pretty quickly once you get used to the flow. Let me know if you have any trouble with it.

I'm happy that you are enjoying the Forum, but I certainly don't manage this by myself. We've got some great moderators working with the AREDN team to keep the community informed.

Contact me at WU2S [at] ARRL [dot] net if you want to setup a meeting.

Eric,  do you see any
Eric,  do you see any negative effects related to microwave over this 76km link across Lake Ontario?   Some of the guys here on the west coast that have dealt with microwave links over the ocean have historically had instability when water-atmosphere conditions are just right/wrong.  But this has not historically been with 802.11 and the smarts of current state-of-the-art software-defined-radios.  I've been looking at putting up a link going out to Catalina Island and ~50km of water.  How's your link working?   What equipment and band is in use?

Hi Joe. Thanks for the
Hi Joe. Thanks for the comeback! To answer your questions:
1. Negative effects - No
2. Link to Catalina - It should work! Longest shot I ever did was greater than 80km (50 miles) in the early days of WiFi. The equipment is so much better now!
3. Link is quite reliable
4. Equipment at our end is Ubquiti M2 on Channel -2 with 8dbi Omni antenna at 700 feet above average terrain (Top of a Mountain)
Other end is also a Ubiquiti M2 with 24 dbi Gain Reflector (I think)
I am a Newbie at this although I have been in the Wireless (WISP) Networking business since 1995 (Does the name Karlnet ring a bell?)
