NV mappers?
Is anyone in Nevada (Las Vegas maybe?) running KG6WXC's mapping program?   I know there's some network activity in Vegas.  If there's a mapper available, I'd like to get a screenshot of the network there to include in my presentation at NVCON next month.
Thanks!

LV Mesh Group

There is an informal "LVMesh" group in the LV Metro area, self-defined and not club-linked, some members more "public" than others. One active member, Tommy Davis (KB7HTA), has compiled a map of the major LV sites on his webpage at: http://kb7hta.com/lvmesh/ (click on that map for an interactive version). Please note that there are a number of mesh nodes in the area which do NOT appear on this map due to issues such as worries about aggressive HOAs etc.

I suggest you review Tommy's recent PPT presentation also available there from his website, and then contact Tommy directly (if he's in town). Look at the last page in his presentation with the Mesh Status page to get a better idea of the number of active nodes on the air.

While this can be a contentious issue, please also note that our [informal, non-chartered] LVmesh group actively discourages any use of "tunnels" except in the case of 1) emergencies; 2) limited appropriate community-support events; and/or 3) proper control operator functions limited to a temporary single end-point connection.

If you'd like further info on Henderson Amateur Radio Club involvement in mesh, as a club officer I am the control operator for our W7HEN 2.4G node on Apex (the other two are Tommy's) as well as the control operator for the Henderson Executive Airport site with its 2.4 and 5.8 nodes. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about those. Also, a number of our HARC members such as Tommy are actively working with mesh nodes in different uses, and our HARC has had fairly frequent AREDN use presentations at our Tech Tuesday Breakfasts over the past couple years; for more on HARC, see: http://w7hen.com/ (As webmaster, I'm probably remiss on not having a mesh section there yet, but there's only so much time available).

Orv,
Orv,

I've thought about standing up a dynamic map, but haven't delved into it.  I'll review the instructions (https://gitlab.kg6wxc.net/mesh/meshmap/blob/master/README.md) and maybe I'll have a chance to give it a whirl in the next week or two.

As of this morning, I'm seeing 38 nodes on the Vegas mesh and only a few are tunnels.

NV maps
Fred, I'd LOVE to be able to show a mesh map of the LV area at NVCON on the 20th of July.  (Consider that your deadline :-D  )

Yeah, give it a shot.  If you have questions, Eric KG6WXC can help.  BTW, he's almost always on his Mattermost chat server.
If you'd like to use it to contact him, send me your email address and I'll send you a logon invite.

Thanks

Sure - ricklaut at g mail dot
Sure - ricklaut at g mail dot com.  If you know of any instructions that are a little more specific, I'd love to see them also (not completely Linux fluent).
