Please take some pictures of the various go-kits and post them to the Forum. I think that many people would be interested in seeing the variety of creative solutions.

Activity Day in Pasadena - Go Kit Selection

Randy,

Here is a selection, focused on those Go Kits with AREDN MESH. There were many more, of course, all of them a reflection of their builder's ingenuity and use case focus. We learned a lot and had a fantastic time talking, sharing and enjoying a great Saturday!
One take away was Go Kits are a process, they keep changing as technology and operating procedures change... which is part of the fun!

Fun times!

73,
Oliver K6OLI

Thank you very much, Oliver!

Would be great if you could post those images in full size somewhere on the web or mesh so that some of us could zoom in and see even more detail! Great stuff. Wish I could have been there, but this is almost as good.

Also - thanks to all those who showed up and showed off their kits!

Thank you!
Thanks for the great pictures and a big thanks to all who participated in this event and showed their work.
If you wish, I can create a photo gallery for these pictures which could hold higher resolution images.

Go Kit Album

Thank you for the offer, Randy.  My photos usually upload to Google Photos automatically so making an album is quick and easy.

And here are the photos of just the Go Kits

Don, these photos are original size, so that is the best I can do in terms of resolution. :-)
When one clicks on a photo and then selects the info button (i) one can see whose respective Go Kit it is.

Please keep in mind that there were many more excellent Go Kits, that I simply did not get around to taking pictures of because there were about 50 fun people to talk to, share ideas with and say hello to.

Happy Holidays and 73 to all!

Saturday was a great sharing opportunity!

Thanks to everyone who participated, Saturday was another great opportunity for all to share, and learn from the group.

Special thanks to Oliver K6OLI for the VARA workshop, and to Lew AC6LS for coordinating the go kit "fair".  Oliver and Lew both serve as Assistant Emergency Coordinators for the Northeast District, Los Angeles Section of ARES; Oliver is our education and training coordinator, Lew is our net operations coordinator.

LAECT, in conjunction with ARES Los Angeles, conducts Activity Day on the fourth Saturday of each month.  When we started this in 2014, we weren't sure anyone would participate during the holidays.  As it turns out, November and December each year are often the largest groups!

Activity Days consist of presentations, discussions or workshops in a wide range of Amateur Radio-related topics, though most often with some relevance to emcomm.  Our first formal discussion of mesh networking was back in 2015, and since then it has been included in the mix virtually every month.

Everyone is always welcome to join us on the fourth Saturday.  The location and other information is included in the first post above.

Best wishes to all for a Happy Christmas and New Year!
