hAP ac lite 5GHz LAN Access Point
The  Nightly Build available on Nov 28, 2018 will now include capability to use both wireless cards in the hAP ac lite device.  The 2GHz is the Mesh RF and now the 5GHz is a standard part 15 Access Point bridged with the LAN network.   This means that LAN mesh devices can be both on wifi and physically on the Ethernet port, both allocated the IP addresses assigned for the LAN network.

For now, the 5GHz channels overlapping Doppler Radar are not selectable -- the "DFS" channels.   This will be an add on later to integrate in these channels.

The code changes that make this possible, also make the following capability readily doable and are in the pipeline for the nightly build:

1) Activating the Nanostation XM devices' secondary Ethernet port to be standard AREDN functionality (and daisy chain devices with poe passthough).
2) Ability to enable/disable the following for single wireless card devices -- only one active on the wireless at a time or both disabled:
     a) mesh RF as we know today
     b) LAN Access Point for local wifi clients (with DtDLink routing to a dish on the roof and link to area mesh).

Have fun!   Please post good/bad results as always.

Fired up nightly build and had no issues with the new configuration.

My test configuration:
(1) comcast service connected to hap via netgear ap (port 1) using usb pass thru
(2) IC7100 RRC connected to hap via port 2
(3) laptop connected to hap via port 3
(4) Ipad connected to system via 5ghz wifi.

now to look into needed services on the mesh

Nice!

Nice!
I also approve of the change to the wording of the "mesh gateway" and "default route" settings to be more plainly descriptive.

Can I provide Internet (VLAN1) in port #1 at home and in USB (my 3G/4G iPhone) in the field? Thanks!

The USB port is only for

The USB port is only for power right now as the USB drivers are not loaded.

Hi Darryl
Hi Darryl
Can the team find a way to keep the USB power on after you power down and up?  It must be manually saved to restore the power each time however, the PoE works from startup. You guys are the best!
Thank you,
Denis

Hi Denis,

Hi Denis,
I don't see it as an issue in Github.   If you add it, I'll investigate.

Thanks

UPDATE: Thanks for issue #291.   Bug found, squashed, and pull request #292 has been submitted

Build #509

Build #509 is working. I did notice that LED #5 (red) goes cold when the USR green LED goes hot but doesn't appear to have any impact on its operation. I will report it as an issue I will add it on GitHub.

Thanks,
