AREDN™ - The Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network

Mesh technology has evolved over the years.  Most notably, Broadband-Hamnet™ (BBHN) has made substantial progress over the past 2 years in expanding their unique approach to environmentally robust, commercially available, Ubiquiti, hardware.  This has changed the complexion of mesh implementations from an experimental, hobby-oriented, novelty into a viable alternative network suitable for restoring some level of Inter/intra-net connectivity when “all else fails.”

Recently, the developers of BBHN software have kicked-off a new project focused on taking this technology to the next level.  Comprised of the project manager, developers, and several of the testers who brought BBHN to Ubiquiti hardware, this team is geared to pick up where BBHN left-off.

The AREDN Project mission is to provide the Amateur Radio Community with a quality solution for supporting the needs of high speed data in the Amateur Radio and Emergency Communications field.

We invite you download and adopt the AREDN Release 3.0.2 and give us the opportunity to support your mesh implementation.

For the AREDN Team,

Andre, K6AH

Hamvention 2018

The AREDN Project and the Miami Valley Mesh Alliance will have a large presence at Hamvention 2018. We will be in booth 1001 in Building 1 at the Greene County Fairgrounds near Xenia, Ohio. The dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday May 18, 19 and 20, 2018.

We will be conducting several demonstrations and answer all your questions about how mesh networking can aid your local emergency response agencies. In the AREDN Forum under General Discussion we have a thread to collect your suggestions for what you would like to see demonstrated.

In Forum room 2 on Saturday, May 19th, from 1:30 to 2:30, Andre, K6AH, the AREDN Project Manager, will discuss why delivering mesh networking as part of your group’s EMCOMM services will produce a paradigm change for the disaster services community you serve.

Hams such as yourselves, are now building or have already implemented AREDN networks in their own cities and counties throughout the US.  Learn how they are utilizing this exciting technology and how you can get involved in these efforts.  Andre will also describe what equipment you should be considering...
